DESCRIPTION:Join us for National Public Lands Day event at the Middlesex Greenway Metuchen trailhead at 11am and stay to join Reed and Todd for a group run down the Greenway and through parts of Metuchen directly after the event. They will stop at various points along the way to chat and answer questions about their campaign and vision for Metuchen. After the run is over\, we will meet at Hailey’s Harp and Pub for some food\, drinks\, and more conversation! We hope to see you there!\nIt’s important to note that running is NOT required. DESCRIPTION:NATIONAL PRIDE MARCH (NOW A GLOBAL MOVEMENT)\n\n“In Solidarity!”\nUpdate: The outreach and response to this March is staggering and inspiring. What started off as a proposed March in Washington\, DC on June 11th\, has quickly morphed into a national movement\, as well as a global one. Austin(TX)\, Portland(ME)\, Indianapolis(IN)\, Seattle (WA)\, Sydney (AU) are just a few of the cities who have announced solidarity marches. And there are MANY others who are in the initial planning stages around our country and the world.\nFor those who can not attend the March in DC\, we URGE all our community members\, their families\, friends\, and allies to reach out to their local Pride organizations to help coordinate additional solidarity marches. Use these organizations to help bring your local communities together. The issues that face our community are not just national\, but local as well.\nIn short time\, we will start linking all the pop-up solidarity marches to this main event page\, as well as a web page that will be created with more information on all the marches.\nLet’s make this truly a “National Pride March” that spreads from coast to coast and shows solidarity through our Pride movement. Although at the pace we are going\, we might have to change the name to the “Global Pride March!”

DESCRIPTION:The March for Science is a celebration of our passion for science and a call to support and safeguard the scientific community. Recent policy changes have caused heightened worry among scientists\, and the incredible and immediate outpouring of support has made clear that these concerns are also shared by hundreds of thousands of people around the world. The mischaracterization of science as a partisan issue\, which has given policymakers permission to reject overwhelming evidence\, is a critical and urgent matter. It is time for people who support scientific research and evidence-based policies to take a public stand and be counted. \nON APRIL 22\, 2017\, WE WALK OUT OF THE LAB AND INTO THE STREETS.\nWe are scientists and science enthusiasts. We come from all races\, all religions\, all gender identities\, all sexual orientations\, all abilities\, all socioeconomic backgrounds\, all political perspectives\, and all nationalities. Our diversity is our greatest strength: a wealth of opinions\, perspectives\, and ideas is critical for the scientific process. What unites us is a love of science\, and an insatiable curiosity. We all recognize that science is everywhere and affects everyone.

We unite as a diverse\, nonpartisan group to call for science that upholds the common good and for political leaders and policy makers to enact evidence based policies in the public interest.”\nWe as scientists\, students\, teachers\, doctors\, engineers\, and concerned citizens have chosen to March for Science to bring attention to important issues that we see as threatening the safety of our fellow citizens\, our state\, our national character\, and the endeavor of scientific exploration.\n-Fact-Based Policies: We demand that our leaders take into account the best available scientific evidence when making their decisions\, in particular in the areas of climate change\, healthcare\, energy policy\, public safety\, education\, and resource management. We reject attempts to silence the voices bringing attention to scientific evidence of the serious problems faced by our society\, and we reject politically-motivated attacks on scientific research in any field.\n-Free Inquiry: As scientific study requires open exchange of ideas and free association across ethnic\, religious\, and national lines\, we demand that the right to speech\, travel\, and association be protected to the fullest extent\, in keeping with the highest ideals and traditions of the United States.
