SUMMARY:Don't Take Our Health Care Rally
DESCRIPTION:On Thursday\, Republicans in Congress plan on ramming Trumpcare through the House of Representatives. Do you know what Thursday is? The 7th anniversary of the day the Affordable Care Act was signed into law. By every available metric\, Trumpcare will make health care in America worse. It is a cruel and immoral piece of legislation. And the petty politicians who want to pass it are using a day that signified 22 million Americans gaining badly needed health insurance to take that care away from 24 million Americans over the next 10 years.\nJoin us on Thursday at the State House Annex Steps to rally to protect our care and tell our elected leaders “Don’t Take Our Health Care!”

SUMMARY:Indivisible Central NJ - General Meeting
DESCRIPTION:All hands on deck! Let’s get together for our 4th general assembly meeting to discuss next steps and the subcommittees research. \nGeneral meeting to continue developing the direction and organization of our local chapter. Please come join us if you live in the 6th\, 7th\, or 12th congressional districts. We will be leading a brief discussion on best ways to contact and WHO to contact for many of our issues and concerns and breaking back into our huddles for group exercises. More info to come. SAVE THE DATE!\nPLEASE BRING DONATION FOR FOOD PANTRY!\nSome logistic notes about the event:\nIf you are unfamiliar with events held at the Old Franklin Schoolhouse\, some parking tips:\n1) It’s street parking\, friends. That means you can park on that section of Rt 27 or on any side streets. Some people choose to park in the municipal parking lot directly across the street- please just be careful crossing.\n2) The parking lot directly next to the schoolhouse is for the YMCA offices/Masons and we do not have permission to use it.\n3) There are public lots that you can enter on Pearl Street and parking is FREE after 6pm. (at meters or in lots)\n4) Come early and have dinner downtown!! Metuchen has many fine places to eat. There is also the new large parking deck at the far end of Pearl Street- that is NOT free.\nMost of all- please remember to bring non perishable food for our local food pantry. The venue was kind enough to host us in exchange for help in the community!

SUMMARY:Author reading and talk with Patrick Phillips
DESCRIPTION:Book reading and talk with autor Patrick Phillips. Looking forward to this POSOC & L.I.V.E.- sponsored author reading and book talk! Have you read a little ‘Blood at the Root’ yet? Here’s a snippet of the intro. Tell me if this history isn’t tapping us on the shoulders now.\n“That was the night bands of white men set out on horseback\, riding toward the little clusters of cabins that dotted the woodlands and pastures along the river. Using posted notices\, scrawled letters\, rifles\, torches\, and sticks of dynamite\, they delivered a message to their black neighbors—including many they had known and worked with all their lives. The black people of Forsyth could either load up and get across the county line before the next sundown\, or stay and die like Rob Edwards.\nBy the end of October\, the night riders had forced out all but a handful of the 1\,098 members of the African American community—who left in their wake abandoned homes and schools\, stores and livestock\, and harvest-ready crops standing in the fields. Overnight\, their churches stood empty\, the rooms where they used to sing “River of Jordan” and “Go Down Moses” now suddenly\, eerily quiet.\nThe purge was so successful that within weeks there was no one left for the mobs to terrorize\, and whites who had either taken part in the raids or simply stood aside as they passed now settled back into the rhythms of farm life…\nGeneration after generation\, Forsyth County remained “all white\,”…But now and again throughout the century\, whenever someone intentionally or unwittingly violated the racial ban\, white men could be counted on to rise up like they always had and drive the intruders away. Years might pass between such episodes\, but each time it happened\, Georgians were reminded that while the racial cleansing of 1912 seemed like ancient history\, in truth\, it had never really ended. In truth\, many in Forsyth believed that “racial purity” was their inheritance and birthright. And like their fathers’ fathers’ fathers\, they saw even a single black face as a threat to their entire way of life.”

SUMMARY:International Women's Strike NYC: Rally and March on March 8th

SUMMARY:People's March for Education Justice - NYC
DESCRIPTION:When public education is under attack?\nWhat do we do?\nStand up fight back!\nOn March 4\, students\, teachers\, parents and community members across New York State will come together for the People’s March for Education Justice.\nWe’ll start at Trump Tower 725 5th Avenue and make our way to Governor Cuomo’s offices at 633 3rd Ave! \nAs we continue to defend public education \nfrom federal attacks by Donald Trump and Betsy \nDeVos\, we march to defend here in New York from Governor Andrew Cuomo. The public investment he proposes in his education budget this year is woefully inadequate and falls way short of being equitable. It will negatively impact our most vulnerable students from early child care to higher education all across the state. Black\, brown\, immigrant\, refugee\, low-income\, LGBTQIA\, English Language Learners\, homeless students and students with disabilities\, are worthy of an investment that will meet their needs not deny them opportunities to be successful.\n· We march to demand that Governor\n Cuomo finally fully funds the $4.3 billion owed to public statewide as a result of the Campaign for Fiscal Equity including the $1.9 billion owed NYC\n· We march to Raise the Age and end the \ncriminalization of our youth\, we should be able to provide social workers and other nurturing and committed support staff in schools for struggling youth\n· We march to end the state’s over-reliance on high stakes testing\n· We march to demand that NYS invests on the front end in childcare and pre-K and invests in truly making SUNY and CUNY free for all on the back end in order to ensure successful transition to adulthood.\n· \nWe march because we need a Governor in NYS who is not afraid to make the super rich pay just 1% more by extending and expanding the millionaire’s tax and closing corporate tax loopholes\, which could bring billions to fund high quality education for all and so much more.\n\n· We march because the rhetoric of\nGovernor Cuomo and Trump attacking public education is almost indiscernible as they both have\n called public schools “a monopoly” and\nhave both push school privatization through vouchers and privately-run charter schools.\nWe will be releasing more of our platform as we closer to the march. We only have until the end of March\, when the budget is finalized to have an impact.\n If you were inspired by the historic Womens March like we were\, march with us to answer the call for 10 Actions in 100 Days
