SUMMARY:Solo Art Exhibit: You Think You Know Me
DESCRIPTION:Transgender visual artist\, Tegan James of Metuchen\, will hold his first solo art show in an unconventional gallery setting. The show will be held at The Gallery at What’s New Men’s Consignment store on Main Street in Metuchen.\nThe theme of the show\, titled ‘You Think You Know Me’ relates to the LGBTQ community\, with a heavy focus on the topics of being transgender and the gender spectrum. Twelve paintings of acrylic on canvas have been selected for this show. Their sizes range from 16×20” to over 4’ feet tall.\n“It’s important that I use this opportunity to bring awareness to the transgender community\, not only to give a voice to myself and my own journey\, but also to be a voice for those out there who still feel lost\, scared or uncertain. It wasn’t until I was 36 years old that I discovered what was right with me\, and I wouldn’t have known if others weren’t out there sharing their stories too.”\nDetails: No cover charge; light refreshments

DESCRIPTION:The Metuchen Democrats speaker series continues with Dr. Ben Dworkin:\nDr. Ben Dworkin\, is the Director of the Rebovich Institute for New Jersey Politics and Adjunct Assistant Professor of Political Science. A veteran of New Jersey politics\, he has extensive experience in campaigns and elections\, government and legislation\, lobbying and issue advocacy\, as well as teaching and media relations. He has been frequently quoted by major newspapers including the Philadelphia Inquirer\, Star-Ledger\, Press of Atlantic City\, Asbury Park Press\, the Home News-Tribune and others. He is also a frequent guest on NJ12’s “Power & Politics” television news program.\nAs one of the top experts in New Jersey politics\, Dr. Dworkin will give a non-partisan analysis of the 2016 election and the impact that it has had on national\, state and local political parties and communities. Additionally\, Dr. Dworkin will give his take on the upcoming 2017 gubernatorial election.\nThis is sure to be a fascinating evening and we hope you can join us.
